2houses is one of the few competitors that already charges per family rather than per parent, which is the right instinct. Their FAQ says one parent subscribes and that opens the account to two parents, children, third parties and mediators, and that neither parent is the administrator: both have the same rights. Their tool list runs wide, with a shared calendar, a Finance section for expenses between the two homes, an Info-bank, albums and a family journal, in six languages.
Both apps charge per family, so the comparison comes down to what you get for nothing and what you get for court. TextingParents has a free plan, not a trial: unlimited messaging, high-res photos and videos, the shared calendar and the Family Vault are free for both parents, permanently. 2houses lists $169.99 a year after a 14-day trial.
The other difference is the export. A TrueCopy is a certified court record with a code anyone can check at textingparents.com/verify, and it is $39 on the Free Plan, so you never need a subscription to bring your history to a hearing.
