Privacy Policy
Last updated July 9, 2026 · Texting Parents, LLC
TextingParents is a communication and record-keeping tool for co-parents. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages for advertising.
Who we are
The service is operated by Texting Parents, LLC ("we," "us"). You can reach us at hello@textingparents.com.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address (used to sign you in with a one-time code; we do not store a password) and the legal name you provide, which appears on certified records you export.
- Your co-parenting record: the messages, photos, videos, calendar entries and swaps, and Family Vault details you and your co-parent add. This content is the record the product exists to keep.
- Call metadata: for in-app calls we log who called, when, audio or video, duration, and outcome (missed, declined, completed). Calls are not recorded by default. Call recording can be enabled for a family on request; when it is on, both parents see a recording indicator during the call and the recording is sealed to the shared record.
- Device & notification data: a push-notification token so we can alert you.
- AI writing help: when you send a message, its text may be checked for hostile tone. Only drafts that are flagged are sent to our AI provider to suggest a calmer rewrite; plain messages are never sent to the AI.
How we use it
- To operate the service: deliver messages, keep the shared record, run the calendar, send notifications, and place calls.
- To produce a TrueCopy (your certified court record) you can export and independently verify.
- To keep the service secure and to prevent abuse.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your messages or record for advertising or profiling.
Who can see your record
- Your co-parent. The record is shared by design: you and your co-parent see the same record, and neither of you can edit or delete it.
- Service providers that help us run the app, under contract and only as needed: cloud hosting, push-notification delivery, real-time calling infrastructure, and an AI provider for the tone-check feature. They are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
- When required by law, or to protect safety and legal rights.
- Anyone you choose to share an exported certified record with (for example, an attorney or a court).
How long we keep it
The co-parenting record is append-only: entries cannot be edited or deleted, by either parent or by us, so the record stays complete and tamper-evident for legal use. Because the record is shared and may be needed as evidence, we retain it even if one parent closes their account.
Closing your account
You can close your account at any time in Settings. When you do, we revoke your sign-in, delete your device and notification data, and remove your name from view (you appear as "Removed parent"). The shared record itself is retained for the reasons above and for your co-parent's continued access. See our Terms for details.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls. Every record entry is sealed with a cryptographic fingerprint of the one before it, so any alteration is detectable.
Children
The service is for parents and guardians (adults). It is not directed to children, and children do not create accounts. Parents may store information about their children in the Family Vault; that information is controlled by the parents.
Your choices & rights
- Access and export your record at any time.
- Manage notification preferences in Settings.
- Close your account as described above.
- Contact us at hello@textingparents.com with any privacy request.
Changes
We may update this policy; we will post the new date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
