This is the rule that saves people the most grief, so it comes first. Export your full history before you cancel your subscription or stop paying. Once your access lapses, pulling a clean, complete export gets harder, and in some cases you lose easy access to it entirely. The order is always: export, verify, then cancel. Never the reverse.

The most common mistake is canceling first to save a month's fee, then discovering the full export is gone. A few dollars is not worth your history.

How to export from each app

The exact menu names change over time, but the shape of the process is the same across apps. Here is what to look for in each.

What a certified export preserves that a screenshot does not

The catch nobody warns you about: no app lets you import

Here is the part that surprises people. You can export from almost any app. But almost no app lets you import that history into a new one.
